If you're into surround sound or DTS, you're going to need speaker stands, as most speaker systems don't include them. I like these as the flat black color makes them disappear in the room (choose your wood or metal finish carefully). The triangular base really does a great job at keeping them sturdy (although most speakers made nowadays are bomb proof). Depending on your couch or easy-chair, you can adjust the height (up to four feet-two inches), which many stands cannot do. Also, the speaker wire enters the bottom of the stand and is hidden inside the pole - a very nice little feature for purists.
