Order Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat (Black with Silver)

This is a very nice sim seat. I'd been looking for something like this for a while, and you really can't beat the price considering what was available for how much cost only 2-3 years ago.

Overall it's decent. There are some improvements that can be made, however, I am a picky engineer-type who tends to over-design everything. It's definitely something you can be satisfied with out of the box but I have this disorder that requires me to improve on everything, no matter how good the original design of the product.

PROS:

Very solid construction, quite heavy so it is a fairly stable platform.

The seat is comfortable, and it folds down. There is some adjustability of the seat/wheel/pedals which would satisfy most.

The Logitech G25 wheel perches perfectly onto the mount, as do the pedals and the shifter (onto the optional mount). The unit even comes with the correct bolts and allen wrenches, which are also used to assemble the seat, to bolt the G25 components to the assembly. NICE!

CONS:

Part of what makes it so stable is the weight of it. This makes it a little difficult to move around when you need to do so, but with hardwood floors it slides quite easily.

The paint finish is THIN. Just in the little bit of handling during shipment the paint has been marred/scratched in several places. Not a big deal, I guess, but I think better care should have been taken and/or a better finish applied.

Although there is much adjustability to the unit, I could not get comfortable in it. No matter which position I tried I felt the wheel was too close into my chest and the tilt-angle of the wheel I found awkward. The wheel platform does adjust, but not easily and not enough, I found. I am around 5-10 and 185-lbs. I think it necessary to purchase the seat slider kit also available on Amazon.

GLITCHES:

If you use the Logitech G25, be sure to purchase the shifter mount now available from Amazon. It is a very nice addition.

None of the cap screws come with lock washers. As hard as I sim-race, I would definitely get a handful of lock washers to add to the various cap screws. It will only help keep it together with all of the abuse you will probably give it, and help if you mount the Buttkicker as well.

There seems to be a need for a brace from the top of the pedal platform to the floor. It does do some flexing under moderate force which annoys me. I'll see if I can remedy this on my own at some point in time.

There is NO MOUNT for the Buttkicker Gamer on this seat. However, Smoke-tronics makes a kit using the Buttkicker amp and LFE speaker to attach to this unit, and it is FAR BETTER than the Gamer device.

If your going to use this on hardwood floors, I would absolutely get some sort of the foam tiles at a home improvement center as a base.Get more detail about Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat (Black with Silver).
