The cast iron is easily scratched. I purchased 4 (2 pair) and all but 1 came out of the box with dings and scratches...the boxes themselves do not look to have suffered from shipping, so I can only imagine that the damage was done in packaging, etc. at the factory.
Assembly is easy, included instructions are clearly written.
They will certainly do the job as intended.
